The foray into unusual formats brought on a two-year sequence of relatively small paintings called, “Tondos Rondos,” as the paintings are all round or oval. With very few exceptions, each depicts a single object- a vessel, a flower, a nearly abstract shape- rendered as a heraldic form, as if a symbol inscribed on a coin or shield.
